<\/a> day for today, the first day of the school Christmas holidays. So I am banished from my own kitchen and they have recruited a very willing Granny as scullery maid number 3 (which mainly involves washing up, which she enjoys doing!). Mince pies are in the works. Chocolate brownie cup cakes are done – and everyone agreed turned out a little strangely, but I have no doubt they will get eaten as they are extremely chocolately. After the mince pies they are planning to head into the realms of Swiss Guetzli – Mail\u00e4nderli (again), Brunsli and Zimtsterne \u00a0if they don’t get bored by then. Then I think we will be well-set for Christmas!<\/p>\nI suspect there may be a devil of a mess when they are through, but what the heck, it’s worth it!<\/p>\n
I do like all this sharing the load.<\/p>\n
I’m off to collect my turkey and then I think I’ll work on my socks….<\/p>\n

I mean, there has to be some payback for having teenage daughters! It wasn’t that I don’t like baking, or that I didn’t want to do it, but I just wasn’t really burning with desire. I’d made my mind up that today I would make a gentle start on a couple of different sorts. Enough that I would still enjoy it, but low-key enough that it wouldn’t feel like an industrial-scale production line!<\/p>\n
