I finally got through all the quilting on Martinique<\/em> and am now just sewing down the last couple of yards of the binding. I really wanted to wait until it was completely finished before I photographed it, but the sun is starting to go down, so it was really a case of now or never as I think tomorrow it’s going to rain again and it’s so difficult taking photos in the house when it’s dark outside.<\/p>\n

Martinique<\/em> is not a blockbuster quilt, but it’s a subdued and cosy one. I think I like it more now that I’m not fighting with it and my sewing machine. In an hour or so I will happily be able to claim that my biggest UFO is sorted- What a lovely feeling! It really was too big and too thick to quilt on my sewing machine – the quilting isn’t great and it wasn’t a very happy experience. I can honestly say that it took forever and I didn’t enjoy it much – it was an absolutely sublime feeling when it was finished though!!<\/p>\n

Thanks for your comments over the past couple of days \u00a0– the vast majority of you seem to be quilt washers, so I think I’m going to be bold and give it a go. I’d better get some colour catchers before I do though.<\/p>\n

That’s on the list of jobs to do tomorrow. But first I \u00a0have to trundle off to the hospital for an MRI on my back – which is much better, thanks for asking, but still not right. I finally made it to the doctor this week – he thinks it may be a fracture or a compression fracture. I can’t believe it’s possible that I’ve been walking around for three weeks with a fracture in my spine, but it has been very painful, so maybe he’s right. (I do have quite a high pain threshold, but even so….). I’m actually quite intrigued to know though, but not looking forward to the MRI much – the machine is so noisy and I’m a little claustrophobic – I’m hoping they might be kind and leave my head outside.<\/p>\n

And now I can really start thinking about new projects – with NO GUILT attached!<\/p>\n
