I’ve been knitting a Hollygrove scarf<\/em> for the last couple of days. It’s a gorgeous pattern by Judy Kaethler for Three Irish Girls<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Quite extraordinary really :<\/p>\n

1) I’m knitting and feet are not involved<\/p>\n

2) How can something that looks so difficult \u00a0be so easy?<\/p>\n

3) Why have I never branched out into this colour direction before?<\/p>\n

I was inspired by Judy<\/a>. She made the same scarf in a fabulous MadelineTosh<\/em> red. It was absolutely gobsmackingly gorgeous (apologies for a less than delicate turn of phrase, but no other words fit the bill).<\/p>\n

I coveted Judy’s scarf – A LOT.<\/p>\n

And then my yarn supplier was out of red.<\/p>\n

And red is really my contrast colour in the winter.<\/p>\n

That threw me a bit. I could wait for a while till they had restocked or I…could….try ….something…else… It was tricky and I really wasn’t sure at all. It had to be bright and cheery enough to counter all the greyness we have in the winter here, but without being gaudy. Something gorgeous and rich …and what do you know, I found it.<\/p>\n

I’m having such fun!<\/p>\n

At this point I’d also like to thank Lizzy<\/a> for her very sensible advice on the subject of the second fingerless glove and the very very small ball of yarn left to knit it with. She told me to weigh them both. Now why didn’t I think of that…? Duh??? Thanks Lizzy for being such a down to earth sensible person. I have one gram more yarn than I need – which has to qualify as a fairly close call!<\/p>\n
