I had one of those funny experiences where I seemed to whistle through the first sock in no time at all and then I knitted and knitted the second sock without ever seeming to get anywhere. Anyway, they are done and I love them!<\/p>\n<p><em>Lichen Ribbed Sock<\/em> from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/dp\/1931499651\/ref=mosim?tag=runquiltknitw-21\" >Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush<\/a> &#8211; a neat classic design with interesting toes! The ribbing helps to ensure that this won&#8217;t be one of those hand-knitted socks that wrinkle round your ankles in a Nora Batty manner.<\/p>\n<p>The yarn is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.koigu.com\" >Koigu<\/a> Painter&#8217;s Palette 100% merino in dye code and lot P444 236.It feels gorgeous and the colour scheme is delightful \u00a0&#8211; but then I&#8217;m a turquoise girl! It&#8217;s a fairly firm yarn without a lot of give.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/114.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1633\" title=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/114.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/114.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/114-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This morning I also finally \u00a0received the parcel containing the fusible web I need for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thimbleblossoms.com\" >June Bug<\/a>, so I&#8217;ve been experimenting! I think I probably have used fusible web before &#8211; but about a zillion years ago &#8211; so I&#8217;m a little out of practice. I&#8217;d also forgotten how much fun machine applique is. I&#8217;ve been tootling along and have finally plumped for a close zigzag using machine embroidery thread to fix down the petals. It tends to ripple a little, but ironing the heck out of it afterwards seems to solve the problem. It feels really good to be learning something new.
