With June bug and machine applique using fusible web that is!

Oh my word! How on earth does this stuff work? I’ve been following the instructions for the web to the letter and you wouldn’t believe the pickles I have got myself into. Fabric stuck to the ironing board, shrivelled up fusible web stretched and hanging off the fabric, fusible web falling off the fabric altogether at the crutical moment, puckering applique….you name it ladies, I’ve been there and done it today.

I know I’m out of practice and for that reason I’ve been taking it really slowly and carefully, but really? The rocket science I sometimes edit during my day job looks like a piece of cake compared to this. Fusible web has a mind of its own and it certainly doesn’t like me. (And if I’m honest, I don’t like it much either!).

I have painstakingly put 5 more flower patches together today. Yesterday’s two seemed to go together a whole lot easier and the fusible web behaved itself. But today it has decided not to play ball.

What I will say though, is that I’m liking Fandango a whole lot more than I thought I would. It looks a lot more sparky sewn up than it did in the jelly roll – where (and I’m sorry if I’m being rude here) it had a bit of a sad dull green look. Now it’s starting to get a little bit of pizazz. It’s way outside my comfort zone, but it’s certainly growing on me and I think it works well with this pattern.

If only the web behaves and the flowers lie flat and I haven’t pulled all my hair out by the time I’m through.

Time will tell!

Helen

I’ve been fighting the good fight today.
