The few days of summer heat we&#8217;ve had over the last few weeks seem to have sent nature into overdrive. Tulips are opening at a rate of knots and before you can blink an eye, they&#8217;re over.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/45.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1847\" title=\"4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/45.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/45.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/45-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I rather like tulips. Where I grew up in North-East England tulips don&#8217;t fare well and for that reason a lot of people don&#8217;t bother with them. It&#8217;s way too windy &#8211; there are constant strong wings off the sea &#8211; and tulips usually get buffeted out of existence before they can put on any sort of show.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/72.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1848\" title=\"7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/72.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/72.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/72-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last year I had a wonderful display of tulips in the garden, but I didn&#8217;t plant any new bulbs last autumn and it looks like the mice have had a heyday over the winter and have decimated the tulip bulbs among other things.
