With only a few odds and ends of fabric left from my fat quarter bundle I think I can say that Meadowsweet<\/em> is more or less done! I’m waiting for some fabric to arrive from the US for the borders, binding and backing, but the main part of the quilt is complete.<\/p>\n

I had to laugh after I had hung it on the washing line. My crazy blocks have magically morphed into quite a soothing and unified mass. How clever. I had no idea that that would happen. I guess it just shows that fabric designers know what they are doing, while I on the other hand, know nothing!<\/p>\n

Working with this fabric line has been an interesting experience. I wanted to use something very different and outside my comfort zone and at the start felt very unsure of the fabric combinations. I couldn’t get any sort of picture in my head of how they would all fit together, but lo and behold, fit together they did. The end result is somehow miraculously rather soothing and back into my comfort zone.<\/p>\n

I hummed and hawed for a long time about ripping out the solids, but I’m very glad I did. I think the end result would probably have been a lot more discordant if I hadn’t.<\/p>\n

Proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks and sometimes it does you good to branch out into something new.<\/p>\n

Mmm I have some crazy Kaffe Fassett fabrics somewhere. Maybe now I’ll be brave enough to do something with them!<\/p>\n
