I’m breathing a sigh of relief this morning. I’ve had a hectic few weeks – which was wonderful – but it’s also nice to have the house (unfortunately with accompanying chaos) back to myself. The worst of the demolition seems to be over for the moment. It’s still noisy, but not drilling through concrete noisy. One child has duly and very excitedly departed for a week in Lausanne with his school and another may be away at the end of the week for a couple of days if the weather plays ball (which seeing as how Wimbledon starts today, may be somewhat unlikely).

So I closed the front door this morning, looked at the mess and duly sneaked off for an hour’s building up my strength knitting.

Giotto is making progress. The picot edging, which I thought would be the tricky part, has turned out to be the easiest thing with this pattern. The lace pattern is strictly not for beginners – which thankfully I’m not. It’s lovely, but requires a lot of concentration and steady fingers doing stitches that I’ve never even seen before. It’s good to break out of my rut though. I’m always happy to have the sense of achievement of learning something new.

The parquet waxing is slowly but steadily progressing – so I just about have the stay home quilt retreat in my sights now. Unless anything untoward comes along you can put THURSDAY 23rd JUNE in your diaries . Thanks to all of those of you who wrote and said you’d like to join me. If you let me know if you’re really up for it I’ll link your blogs in on the big day and for those without blogs I’ll post any progress photos you would like to share. I’m planning on regular short updates during the day to show you all my progress….if that doesn’t make me get a move on then I don’t know what will!

Come and join me!
