{"id":2957,"date":"2011-12-08T16:59:49","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T14:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?p=2957"},"modified":"2011-12-08T16:59:49","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T14:59:49","slug":"a-mooch-in-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/?p=2957","title":{"rendered":"A mooch in York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never did get to show you photos of my trip to York last week, what with the missing camera and all the hullaballoo in between.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, now I can.<\/p>\n<p>I love York &#8211; it&#8217;s a fabulous town to have a good mooch around, fantastically historic and full of interesting places to visit and things to see. The Minster is famous, but I didn&#8217;t make it there this time, it being more of a girly day and all.<\/p>\n<p>It turned out that the Saturday we went to York was the busiest shopping day of the year. We spent a lot of time looking round the old shopping area known as the Shambles &#8211; as you can see it&#8217;s delightful, but wall to wall bodies! It was also a typically northern English very grey day!<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/2.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2958\" title=\"2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However I did make it to the lovely yarn shop &#8211; Ramshambles &#8211; which was packed. Not as relaxing to look around as I would have liked, but on the other hand it&#8217;s really nice to see a wool shop full of people! Sorry, the photo is slightly out of focus &#8211; poor Lindsay was having a hard time using my camera!<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/11.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2959\" title=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/11-e1323356139883.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/11-e1323356139883.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/11-e1323356139883-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Shambles is full of higgledy piggeldy buildings dating back hundreds of years.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/3.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2960\" title=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There has also been some wonderful restoration work done &#8211; on the Barley Hall, for example!<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/4.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2961\" title=\"4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/4-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After many years of wanting to go there I also finally made it to the headquarters of the Quilter&#8217;s Guild &#8211; a gorgeous old building in a fairly quiet part of town.
