Despite the cold it was too good an opportunity to miss. So camera in hand, husband and I headed out into the farmland that surrounds our village.<\/p>\n<p>It was definitely a good afternoon to be out and there were walkers, snow showers and cross country skiers in abundance. I did toy with getting the cross country skis out too, but the loipe near our house is really not for beginners like me and I thought I might leave the falling over all the time humiliation for tomorrow, when there will be way fewer people out there.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being way below zero, it actually felt fairly warm in the sunshine. The snow was so cold and crisp that it squeaked with every step.<\/p>\n<p>As the Swiss-Germans would say, it was herrlich!<\/p>\n<p>We started out heading up the road towards the Pfannenstiel woods&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?attachment_id=4981\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-4981\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4981\" alt=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/15.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/15.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/15-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;.but before the woods we turned off across the fields towards one of the local farms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?attachment_id=4982\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-4982\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4982\" alt=\"2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/22.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/22.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/22-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The views across to the Alps and Austria were magnificent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?attachment_id=4983\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-4983\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4983\" alt=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/31.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/31.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/31-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here you can see my village and some of the apple trees that lie all around it.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?attachment_id=4984\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-4984\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4984\" alt=\"4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/4.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/4-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all quiet at the farm today.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/?attachment_id=4985\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-4985\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4985\" alt=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/5.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/5.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stopped by the farm shop to pick up some lamb&#8217;s lettuce for dinner. The shop is open and unmanned every day &#8211; all done on trust.
