It’s steaming hot. Next week is the last week of school, so tests are finished and homework has reduced to almost nothing. Long, lazy, hot days… My energy level – which is normally pretty high – seems to be totally sapped at the moment, so I don’t have a whole lot to report today I’m afraid!

The socks I started a couple of weeks ago are now finished. I used the Embossed Leaves pattern by Mona Schmidt from Favorite Socks 25 Timeless Designs by Interweave. Certainly a pattern that I would recommend and knit again – even if I still haven’t mastered the 1×1 rib method cast-on. Maybe next time it will click! The heels and toes are really cool in this pattern – I think you can probably just about make out the zig-zag patterning of the toe in the photo. The yarn is Forest by the Green Mountain Spinnery. I have a whole lot more of the yarn in other colours and I’m really looking forward to using it – the colour palette is subtle and really very pretty indeed! So…one more project done! I guess it will be a good few months before these socks get any wear though!

Now I’m working on the sleeves of the Malabrigo cardigan that I started a while ago. Another totally unsuitable project for hot weather – but great football watching knitting as I can almost do it without looking at all! I haven’t made enough progress yet to merit a photo – but in a day or two I should have something to show. This is of course entirely dependent on how exciting the next and final two football matches in the World Cup turn out to be. I’ll have to find something else to do in the evenings starting next week. My life really has ended up revolving around football matches for the last few weeks! Oh well, it’s only once every four years!!

I guess it’s also about time I tackled the jungle that my garden has turned into in the last few weeks!

Hope you’re enjoying the summer and the football wherever you are! (Unless you live Down Under, in which case I guess I should hope you’re enjoying the winter!!)

best wishes from Switzerland!

Helen

Summer has finally arrived with a vengeance.
