As I mentioned in my last post, I\u2019ve just finished the Wilderness Quilt<\/em> \u2013 my first machine-quilted quilt \u2013 and a revelation to put it mildly! Never in a million years did I expect machine quilting to be so, well, do-able!<\/p>\n

I managed to get some half-way decent photos of it, so here it is\u2026..<\/p>\n

I used the Boxed Squares pattern from Stashbuster Quilts<\/em> by Lynne Edwards, which was very quick and easy. I have no idea where I’m going to use it or who will have the pleasure of having it in their bedroom (the colour scheme doesn’t even remotely match with anything in our house), but it did use up a whole lot of batik fabric that I liked and have been looking at and wondering about how to use for a very long time. And you quilters out there know what a nice feeling that was!<\/p>\n

I named it the Wilderness Quilt<\/em> because I was totally engrossed listening to Into the Wilderness <\/em>by Sara Donati while sewing it. (That’s a great book if you haven’t read or listened to it. ) And before you ask\u2026.yes, I have made a Twilight Quilt<\/em> too. And somehow, for both of them the colours kind of fit the name.<\/p>\n

It’s still super cold here \u2013 minus 7 I think. Andrea and I managed to run this morning \u2013 but I did wish I had worn my long ski underwear under my running tights. We have races coming up soon and really need the weather to warm up so that we can get some long training runs in. Running in the snow or skating along on the ice is pretty hard work \u2013 I can\u00b4t wait for the spring, but more snow is forecast over the weekend. Aargh, this winter just keeps on and on…<\/p>\n
