While I was in England I received delivery of my freshly quilted Whirligig<\/em> quilt – you remember the one – from Carrie Nelson<\/a>‘s wonderful book Miss Rosie’s Spice of Life Quilts<\/em>. I love this pattern. It was such a fun one to put together and is an absolutely fabulous stashbuster scrap quilt. I used up a whole lot of fabric that has been in my collection for years and years, which was, well…immensely satisfying! As always with Carrie’s patterns it is faultless and \u00a0well-balanced (and it went together like a dream!)<\/p>\n

As you can see it has been quilted beautifully with an overall feather pattern by Chris at the Quilt Room<\/a> in Dorking. Thanks Chris – you did a great job! I’m sure that any of you who have ever sent quilt tops away to be quilted will understand the feelings I had when I took this top to the post office. It was almost like sending a child away (well, OK not quite that bad, but I did worry!). I really appreciated that Chris understood and even emailed me when it arrived in England. So all in all – great service from <\/a>the Quilt Room<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Now I’m just pondering what to use for binding – and with a bit of luck I will have it all done by the end of the week. I can’t wait! At the moment I’m dithering between a red, a blue and a purple fabric, all with fairly unobtrusive patterns. I guess I need to do some maths and work out where I actually have enough of any of them as it’s a pretty big quilt, so it will take a fair amount of binding. I can’t wait to snuggle under this one on a cold winter’s night!!<\/p>\n
