Yesterday we finally made it to a wonderful exhibition at the Bellerive Museum on the lakeshore in Z\u00fcrich. I looooove Scherenschnitt and had wanted to see it for a couple of months. Meg was visiting from Erlangen in Germany, so we treated ourselves.<\/p>\n

\"Scherenschnitt\"<\/a><\/p>\n

(Scherenschnitt is cut paper work – apparently some of the oldest pictures were made this way. In Switzerland it is a very traditional art form but the average age of most of those practicing it is pretty high – and they all have very good eyesight and hands that don’t shake!)<\/p>\n

On the way we found this lady sunbathing …..brrr…..<\/p>\n

And the Marroni man selling roast chestnuts….<\/p>\n

The exhibition is housed in a beautiful villa and although some of the art was very modern and a little strange, the more traditional works were amazing. I hope you can see some of the detail on these pictures – it is beyond belief. I don’t know how the artists do it. No strike that, I do know how they do it, but I know that I would be cross-eyed within 30 seconds trying to work like this.<\/p>\n

We really liked this picture. Isn’t the frame great?<\/p>\n

Huge waves of coverousness came over me looking at these amazing works. They were just FABULOUS.<\/p>\n

Should you happen to be in downtown Z\u00fcrich in the next few weeks, it’s certainly worth taking a look.<\/p>\n
