I looooove Scherenschnitt and had wanted to see it for a couple of months. Meg was visiting from Erlangen in Germany, so we treated ourselves.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2371_575x431.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68\" title=\"CIMG2371_575x431\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2371_575x431.jpg\" alt=\"Scherenschnitt\" width=\"431\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2371_575x431.jpg 431w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2371_575x431-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Scherenschnitt is cut paper work &#8211; apparently some of the oldest pictures were made this way. In Switzerland it is a very traditional art form but the average age of most of those practicing it is pretty high &#8211; and they all have very good eyesight and hands that don&#8217;t shake!)<\/p>\n<p>On the way we found this lady sunbathing &#8230;..brrr&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2368_575x431.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-69\" title=\"CIMG2368_575x431\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2368_575x431.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2368_575x431.jpg 575w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2368_575x431-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the Marroni man selling roast chestnuts&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2370_575x431.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-70\" title=\"CIMG2370_575x431\" src=\"http:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2370_575x431.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2370_575x431.jpg 575w, https:\/\/www.runquiltknitwrite.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/CIMG2370_575x431-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is housed in a beautiful villa and although some of the art was very modern and a little strange, the more traditional works were amazing. I hope you can see some of the detail on these pictures &#8211; it is beyond belief. I don&#8217;t know how the artists do it.
