It’s the last week of vacation and the weather has been very so-so, but it is now picking up a bit and the weekend should at least be nice.

In retrospect I think I must have been a little deluded, but I seriously came back from the UK thinking that I would get tons of stuff done this week. I really truly believed that I would have the Whirligig quilt bound, finished and on a bed by today – have I even started with the binding? Not even a chance. How could I not know that this was just a big, big no-no. You would think that after 16 years of being a parent and even more of being a wife I would have realized that it is just, well straight impossible. Nothing (bar laundry and cooking) gets done when everyone is here. Except that the whole lot of them make a whole lot of mess. I am by nature a tidy person and my husband is the opposite. Wouldn’t you have thought that one of my children would have inherited a tidy gene? Just by the law of averages out of three I should have had one, maybe one and a half tidy children. Nada – including their dad I have 4 chaots….

So I ‘m thoroughly looking forward to people returning to school and work next week and actually having a chance in between working at my day job to get things under control again.

I did however make it to the movies yesterday. That doesn’t happen too often, and with my husband even less often. We saw Salt. Not really my choice of film – but of its genre pretty good. Angelina Jolie really is some kind of superwoman though (even though her tattoos do nothing for me!) – apparently she did most of her stunts herself, which is frankly a pretty scary thought. What impressed me the most though is that here is a woman who manages to make wearing a woolly hat look sexy!

I wish I could look like that!
