I’m still quietly and systematically clearing out. Getting rid of junk and making space.<\/p>\n

Today I pulled out this box. It hasn’t been touched in years – how many? difficult to say, 10, 15?<\/p>\n

It’s full of treasures. Plans and dreams. Things I’m going to do when…<\/p>\n

The contents come from a small business project years ago. Together with two friends I was involved in running creative embroidery courses. Not being an embroiderer, I was the purveyor of supplies that could otherwise not be obtained in Switzerland. Little wisps of gauze and silk space-dyed in glorious colours; embroidery threads in extraordinary colour combinations, linens, satins. The business bloomed and just as abruptly died as the main talent in the enterprise was transferred back to the UK with her husband’s job. I was left with my box of treasures. And a lot of dreams.<\/p>\n

I always work big – infact I have trouble making anything smaller than a single bed sized quilt, but I’ve always itched to venture into tiny creations in vibrant silks, festooned with threadwork and garnished with beads. I’ve never done anything like this in my life…ever…but I think now might be the time. Out on my own. No patterns. Letting the dreams come out and taking a chance. Cutting into those fabrics scares the socks off me, but I really want to give it a try.<\/p>\n

Maybe I’ll just make a big old mess, but then again, maybe I won’t!<\/p>\n
