Not always running off to check the internet is a bit like being on a diet – and it’s just as difficult to be self-disciplined! I can’t say that I’ve totally managed to keep to my goal of only checking emails four times a day, but I haven’t been far off.<\/p>\n

And it seems to make a difference. I’ve definitely got more done over the last couple of days and it’s quite nice to log on to email and find loads of new mails and not just a paltry one or two. I think I’m really going to try to stick with this. I like the feeling of not wasting time all over the place.<\/p>\n

I’ve also been trying to follow Leo Babauta’s advice about focusing – really focusing – on one thing at a time, preferably until it is finished. This is a hard one for me too, what with my flibertigibit tendencies and the fact that I currently seem to have the attention span of a two year old.<\/p>\n

Today the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day, so I focused on clearing up the garden for the winter. I’m somewhat motivated by the fact that we will soon have snow. Once that happens, everything turns to a really disgusting slimy gloop and clearing it is a really, nasty job. Normally I work on the principle that I try to clear a couple of basketfuls a day, which gives me slow but steady progress and doesn’t challenge my staying power unduly. Today I FOCUSED and worked for ages until all available compost containers were full.<\/p>\n

The result I have to admit, is a great sense of achievement! I didn’t get finished, but I did get as much done as I can until the ‘green’ collection next week. So that’s something else I can tick off the list.<\/p>\n

I’m also going to have a focused sewing day on Tuesday. (How good does that sound?!!) I’m going to work only on my UFO’s.<\/p>\n

Afterwards I may need to polish my halo!<\/p>\n
