It was made by my Canadian sister-in-law and it fits so well in her house in the woods on Vancouver Island. To me it has ‘autumn’ written all over it! It’s a Scrappy Star quilt from Fat Quarter Friendly by Fons and Porter and it’s made in homespun fabrics in gorgeous fall colours. To say I covet this would be an understatement!

Today has been the most glorious autumn day here in Canton Zürich. A day where, although it sounds a little melodramatic, my heart has sung with joy. I’m still putting my garden to bed for the winter – and was able to work outside this afternoon just in a T-shirt, savouring every moment. I guess the knowledge of what will soon arrive (snow, cold, greyness) made me appreciate every single second of being outside today. The air was clear and bright and I really felt at peace with the world. No deadlines, no stress, steadily working and seeing what I had achieved.

I’ve baked bread, made soup with leeks from the garden and just generally pottered. I also pulled out the whole of the neck and armhole borders of the Juliet Shell I’ve been knitting off and on for ages – I hated them and am much happier with the simple crochet border I’ve done instead. Maybe by tomorrow I will have a photo to show you. One more UFO that’s heading for completion.

Next week will be busy – I’m expecting a lot of work coming in – so I’m just enjoying the calm before the storm. It’s a good day and I’m happy.

Helen

Isn’t this a delightful quilt?
