I has a wonderful slow Sunday yesterday – a little jaunt with my husband to a delightful art exhibition, coming home in the rain to a houseful of teenagers making cupcakes and some gentle knitting. The result? You won’t believe this, I almost don’t believe it myself, but I have finished ALL my knitting UFOs…It feels strange – virtuous and self-disciplined, but at the same time I’m a bit lost without some knitting to pick up. The plan for this week is to try to finish machine quilting my Martinique quilt and then I really need to hit the needles again to make some Christmas gifts.<\/p>\n

So…I can now proudly present….the Juliet Shell<\/em> by Cap Tease.<\/p>\n

The yarn is Sylvan Spirit<\/em> by the Green Mountain Spinnery<\/a> and the pattern is from their lovely pattern book:<\/p>\n

(Apologies for the less than wonderful photo – but there is no natural light at all here today – it is positively tipping it down outside and doesn’t look like it will improve in a hurry, so I’m afraid \u00a0it was this or nothing!). This is my second project with Sylvan Spirit – it feels nice, knits nice and looks nice – what more could you ask for?<\/p>\n

This was a great pattern to knit. It is top down and knitted in the round, so only has shoulder seams, which worked out very nearly. I loved the mock cable pattern – which was a new one for me…<\/p>\n

…but I confess I hated the neck and armhole edging which I couldn’t get anything better than uneven and sticking out. So I ripped it out…unfortunately ripping out part of the front by accident (I don’t think you can see the mend too much) and substituted a simple crochet border. It isn’t perfect, but I think it will do.<\/p>\n

There is no-one here to photograph me, but I can tell you that the shell fits well and the mock cable stitch draws it in nicely at the waist, so it’s a pretty flattering fit (if I say so myself!).<\/p>\n

So its onwards and upwards with the rest of the UFO mountain for me …..<\/p>\n
