The last week and particularly the weekend were so hectic that I’m wiped out, the house is trashed and I couldn’t wait to have a quiet pottering around and cleaning everything up kind of day…

So what’s been going on?

On Saturday I worked from 8-5 at our church bazaar. It’s the church bazaar to end all bazaars – a huge three storey affair which involves everyone who is, or ever has been, a member of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church community. We bring in about Fr 70,000 every year – that’s almost $50,000 dollars. It makes up a big part of the income of the church and many church ladies work all year making wreaths and quilts, cakes and scones, marmalade and lemon curd and bringing crumpets and marmite and other delicacies over from England. Here is a quick photo of the calm before the storm (before we opened)at the Christmas Crafts stall. They had some really pretty things 🙂

It’s always a great day, but totally exhausting.

However, for once I really struck it lucky in the raffle. You won’t believe what I won!

Yes, you’ve guessed it….

A beautiful hand-quilted bow tie quilt! I am so thrilled with it. I know the maker – and she’s thrilled too that it will go to a good home where it will be appreciated. The workmanship is amazing.

I won’t mention that when my husband heard what I had won he was heard to cry out ‘oh no….not another one….’! Poor man, he’s sinking under the weight of all the quilts!

What I really wanted to do after such an tiring day, was go home, eat cake, put my feet up and watch Strictly Come Dancing. No chance ….I had to put my glad rags on and head out to a Mexican 50th birthday party….lots of dancing to watch there too….and substantially better food than would have been on offer at home..

I can’t complain!

Helen

Phew… I was glad to see everyone head out to work and school this morning.
