Spring?
I had meant to do a little sewing yesterday….but we finally had one day of spring! (Don’t worry, it’s raining again today!). I spent the whole day outside weeding, planting, puttering and making a little dent in the chaos that my garden is trying to turn itself into. It’s a bit of a hopeless battle, but it felt good to be outside in the sun and doing stuff.
This is the proof that even though the weather is mostly horrible round here at the moment it really, truly is spring….they say when the apple tree blooms, that’s it, the sign of spring.
Things are starting to flower, we’ve passed the Eisheilige (the days in mid-May after which it’s supposedly safe to plant things that aren’t frost resistant) and really, summer should be on its way.
I have my doubts, but it is a little warmer and I’ve taken the bold step of packing away my winter clothes and mentally moving into summer mode…cut off chinos and short sleeves…which is a little chilly, but I guess I’ll harden up fast!
I hope the sun is shining where you are…maybe you’d be so kind as to send it my way!
Helen
PS And of course the big plus is that I’m indoors and sewing today!

My summer work ‘uniform’ is linen trousers, definitely not warm enough for that yet here!

Spring is late all over. But enjoy the sewing.

I think we are a little warmer than you here. Today is a wonderful day – short and t shirts, with a wind that reminds me of a windy summers day by the sea in England. I can imagine can’t I?

Your floral pics are lovely! I think SUMMER has arrived here, although the calendar still says spring. Today we are in the 90’s with high humidity, and I suspect the AC will have to come on tonight so I can sleep without melting. I so admire your spunk in staying ahead of the weeds… I’m always behind on that chore, and my flowers show it.

Mid may is usually when we in South Australia get our first big rain event for the winter, which is our wet season. Then the could fronts keep them coming in about nice a week from then until October. This is of course on an average year, not a drought year. I’ve finically packed away all my 3/4 pants and t shirts, needing our winter clothes now and fires lit at nights.

you are so brave–packing away your winter clothing! I’m 3 weeks behind in packing away my winter sweaters, but then again yesterday there was a need for alpaca! Will summer ever get here?

Lovely flowers. And it isn’t us who’s got the sun. Totally dismal May, completely waterlogged here. Roll on spring/summer/tiny bit of sunshine…
