10 little things to brighten the day
1. The first iris of the year. Actually if I’m honest, this is the first iris for many a year. I did a big transplantation exercise last year after dispairing that my irises would ever bloom again. They seem to be very happy in their new sunny location. Which coincidentally makes me happy too.
2. The sun is shining and is going to carry on shining for the next 3 days. It’s extraordinary. We are still having high summer when we should be having cool spring. It feels like it will go on for ever. I know it won’t, but right now my head says it will…
3. Reading a great book in the sunshine. One Day by David Nicholls.
4. Daisies in the grass.
5. Finding a little left over Easter egg in the deepest recesses of the fridge.
6. The smell of freshly mown grass. Even better when it’s my own grass and the garden looks tidyish.
7. The animals who I think are mice, but may be voles, and who live in the flower bed didn’t steal any more new plants last night.
8. Delicious fresh Gipfeli (croissant) and excellent coffee for breakfast.
9. A little gentle sewing.
10. Getting my dancing shoes out for a night bopping to a friend’s band, while simultaneously feeling completely amazement that the teenagers aren’t embarrassed at the prospect, are coming too and even want to bring their friends along.
Enjoy your weekend!

Yes, I can’t believe the weather we’re having in Switzerland. I was actually looking forward to some coolish spring weather and not this! But at least it’s not humid. Love the Iris and your Margritlis (Daisies) in your garden.

They would brighten anyone’s day. My daughter is happy to dance alongside me too! It just wouldn’t have happened with my mum and me, although I did go to ballroom dancing lessons with her for a while!
