Thursday 10.00
Two and a half hours in and I’m whizzing along. I decided not to run before I can walk and am stippling the quilt. I know that isn’t very brave – but I’m still in the acquainting stage with my new Bernina and I kind of feel like I need to get a solid basis before I start doing the crazy stuff. But watch this space, I will get there!
For those who asked …. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stitch regulator and the longer throat on the Bernina 820. Machine quilting on this machine couldn’t be more different than on my old Pfaff. I’m having a lovely time – the stitches are even and I have enough space so I’m not dealing with that horrible experience of trying to stuff a huge quilt into a tiny space. I think it helps too that I ordered Warm & Natural batting from the US, which isn’t as poofy as the only batting I can buy locally. It’s also cotton, which I like better.
All of which means that I’m already more than halfway through the quilting …..can you believe it!
So happy!!
and having an absolutely lovely time!
time for a quick coffee break and then I’ll be back into action…
By the way, if any of you want to send me a link or a photo of what you’re up to today, please do and I’ll put it in the next post!
back in a little while,
Helen

sorry, it seems I won’t be able to join you after all. I hosted my quilting group today (including lunch) and the last one only just left. It goes without saying, that my kitchen is a total mess.
So glad to know that you start to like your new machine. Enjoy the rest of your retreat!

Oh, your quilt looks so pretty and so does your machine! The stippling will be fine. Sorry I can’t join in…today I start packing up the garage, in 90+ degree heat. Good times!
