Thursday 14.20

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Just finished making the binding – using leftovers of Meadowsweet. I cut strips about 12 inches long by 2.5 inches and joined them at a 45 degree angle and ironed the seams open (so I don’t have thick bumps where the joins are when I sew the binding on). Most of the pieces I had left over were too small to use, so it was all a bit tight on the fabric front – but worked out in the end. Nice to get it pretty much all used up!

Somehow making binding always seems to take much longer than it should. But here it is – ready to go. I’m looking forward to some nice gentle hand-sewing to finish it off.

I’m not sure I’ll get to my Bliss blocks this afternoon. Time seems to be running away from me….There are just never enough hours in the day!

So, onwards and upwards!

It’s been fun seeing your progress throughout the day! Things always seem to take longer than you expect, especially the finishing stages on a quilt. Wonder if you will do the binding entirely by machine, or hand sew the back?
