Almost ready for Christmas
I’m so glad that I went for my ‘a little bit every day’ way of preparing for Christmas – oh and simplifying things and being careful not to book social events this week certainly helped too.
I’m almost through. Once the blizzard stops I’m going to make a last foray into Zürich to pick up the last two gifts. Then it will just come down to a couple of supermarket trips to collect the turkey and the last odds and ends, one airport trip to collect my mother and a little gentle mince pie baking.
There is no panic. Can you believe it? I can’t ever remember it being like this before. There is no panic – I’ll say it again! I’m slowly but surely doing the last things that need to be done and I’m enjoying them, no, actually I’m savouring them. I’m lighting candles, listening to carols and even…yes, you’ve guessed it, knitting socks!!!
It’s snowing outside. It’s almost perfect.
If only I could get the TV man to come out to sort out our digital TV signal out so that we can watch Downton Abbey on Christmas day…then it really would be perfect!
I hope that you are having a chance to quietly enjoy the last week before Christmas too!
Helen
PS Don’t forget yesterday’s giveaway – you still have the rest of today to enter and I’ll announce the winner tomorrow!

So pretty! And glad your mom is coming for Christmas, too!
Keep calm – and enjoy…

I’m sure it will be lovely to have your mother there to spend your Christmas with – I really miss mine at this time of year (all the time actually but more so during the holidays).
You’re lucky you have snow – we have freezing rain forecast for tomorrow (uck).

Well done! I’m equally proud of myself. I’ve got everything done, even to the point that I’m now twiddling my thumbs waiting for the family to arrive ;). Although I had a minor emergency today when I found the Christmas tree keeled over when I came back from shopping. Apparently the trunk has started rotting. I had the tree in a bucket of water in an air conditioned room for a week and it seems, it didn’t like it. We were able to stabilize it again; I hope it’ll last until Sunday.

The tree looks wonderful…just once in my life I would like to have a white Christmas. Even when we lived in Chicago for 4 years we never had snow for Christmas.
My son is going on a date with a Swiss girl tonight. I’ll keep you posted!
I’m still bobbing around here like a chicken with her head cut off, a little frantic but making a step closer to being finished everyday.

Aaahhhh…Downton Abbey, snow falling, no rushing…sounds perfect, Helen.

We arrive in Zurich tomorrow evening, and I have every intention of doing a little relaxing before the weekend. Well, after I have made the mince pies and cookies and found the CD with the carols on!
