Enough
Today I’ve sort of come to a stop. The flu has abated, but I am in that energyless washed out post flu stage. So be it.
So I’ve made up my mind that I’ve bought enough presents (and if people think they haven’t got enough, well tough), sent enough cards, not baked enough (but I’m hoping the girls might take over on that one), or cleaned enough, but that’s it. It’s enough.
I need to have some recovery time that is guilt free and this is the Christmas gift I’m giving to myself. I’m going to do a mammoth online food shop, set the kids to work, make hubbie pick up anything last minute in town and for the next couple of days I’m putting everything on hold.
I might knit a little, or sew, or read…but only if I want to. Mostly I’m thinking I’m going to sleep, drink tea, take eucalyptus or lavender baths and recover. I would like to be in a fit state to enjoy Christmas.
So that’s it. There may be a rebellion, but as I shall in all probability be asleep, I don’t really care š
Helen
(Thanks for your lovely comments yesterday – I managed my reading and the church and the music were sublime, truly sublime. I may have fallen down a little on the glamour front, but that’s OK!)

Sounds like a very good plan to me! Enjoy doing nothing as much as you can and let your family look after you for once. Hope your energy level will pick up soon so you can enjoy Christmas. xx

Go you! Admire your determination and make sure you don’t give in on anything. Get yourself fighting fit so you too can enjoy yourself over the holidays.

I believe rest and sleep are a gift from God, as well as all the other stuff, Helen. Enjoy without guilt, and your faithful readers will hold the fort down until you return. š xxoo

Take a break. You need it and deserve it! I too have been unwell this week, just with a cold, but it always happens this time of year when we work so hard to finish off the school year, in Australia, then stress about getting the Christmas stuff done. Just leaves ya feeling down, worn out, old and I struggle to find the joy of the season some times. Having said that, I enjoy Christmas by the time it gets here! It’s all the planning and stress beforehand. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. I’m actually doing the reading at our Anglican Church on Christmas morning! I’m slightly annoyed they fostered the mother of three young children for that time, but I guess they’ll be up really early to open their presents!

I hope by now you are truly on the mend. I am certain you have done enough and that everyone will have a lovely holiday no matter what.
