In my previous life I…..
- was a geographer and loved it.
- was a chartered accountant…and hated it.
- received a read and destroy letter from MI5…and did read and destroy it…darn, my kids would have been so impressed…
- was an officer in the British Territorial Army (and I’d guess the only one who made quilts)…and loved that too.
- met my husband in San Francisco…sitting on the Dock of theBay….and loved him.
- was told that I had no aptitude for languages and was forbidden to learn German at school (I’m now fluent and work as a translator and would love to go back and see that language teacher…).
- started making my first quilt when I was twelve and finished it when I was 18 (pieced hexagons).
- went to an all girls school and a women’s college.
- was the first member of my family to stay at school after the age of 16 and go on to university.
- accidentally shot a sheep during target practice (it was hiding behind the targets – I would never knowingly shoot a sheep. I’m not that cruel).
- played wicket keeper for an all-male cricket team.
- had cancer and survived.
- never did drugs.

Lot of stuff crammed in there (your life) so far! You have my permission to sit and quilt quietly from here on out!
