The battle of Martinique continues.
Frau Schmid and I had a real struggle down at the patchwork shop yesterday trying to find the perfect fabric to blend in with the Martinique colours. I guess I could have waited to be able to get yardage of one of the fabrics from the jelly roll, but I doubt if they would be available in Switzerland any time soon – and to be honest, I just didn’t imagine it would be so difficult! The creams were too white or too yellow, the pinks overpowered the subtle old rose tones….and so it went on. In the end we decided on the green and brown shown below. The green was an easy choice, but the brown….mmm….still not 100% sure, but we’ll see…It is a very strange feeling making a ‘not really sure’ quilt like this – usually I’m really into whatever it is I’m making. I just hope it all turns out to be worth the time and effort involved.
What do you think?
On a less complicated note, spring seems really to have sprung here in the hills. Our temperature has risen about 20 degrees in a little over a week. Although we’re only up to about 12 degrees it feels balmy and tropical compared to what we’ve had for weeks. My 11 year old went to school in SHORTS this afternoon, which I did find a little rash, but what the heck, it made him happy!
Don’t tell anyone, but I drank my coffee on the patio this morning in my PJs… š
Enjoy the sunshine if there is any where you are!
Helen
