There’s nothing quite like a nice cup of tea…..
There really is nothing quite like a nice cup of tea. Made properly in a teapot mind you, and in a proper cup with a saucer and preferably with a Digestive biscuit to dunk in it too (in a ladylike manner of course ….and not as just happened to me, being left a fraction of a second too long, breaking off and disappearing without a trace…). Lovely. There’s a reason that you’re told to give people in shock a cup of tea.
Which brings me back to my ‘delightful’ quilt. (She says with a serene smile on her face!)
I’ve just enjoyed my tea and I’m settling down at my machine to have another go.
First of all, I would like to thank all of you who took the time to write with suggestions. I’m sure that not enough flat workspace to take the weight of the quilt is definitely part of the problem, so I’ve shimmied things around a bit to try to help on that front. I’m certainly going to take more breaks and just do a little at a time – if only to protect my sanity and my sewing machine, which was nearly thrown out of the window yesterday.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot today – and I can’t get away from the fact that this quilt is just too big. That’s something I’m going to learn from (and not try again!). I also bought my batting in Zurich, where only one sort was available and I think it’s too fat and poofy, so the whole quilt is just way too bulky for the size of my machine. While I would dearly love a long-arm machine, frankly that isn’t going to happen on grounds of space and cost, so for this quilt – which wasn’t my favourite to start with anyway – it’s just going to be a case of getting on with it. I’m about 1/3 done, so I am getting there, even if it’s slow and painful!
We’ll see how it goes. I think tea-enhanced calmness may help a lot.
More tomorrow…and the next day….and the day after….

Yep a good cup always helps, I’m a coffee girl myself but I do enjoy herbal teas.
It sounds like you’re on a better track today with your quilting, I hope it goes smoothly today!
