This morning (while in my pyjamas, blowing my nose a lot and well-dosed with almost every remedy going), I grafted the toe of the second Crown Mountain sock.

I am thrilled to bits with these socks and I absolutely adore the yarn. I know the irregularity of it wouldn’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s certainly mine! I’m going to try my utmost to find some more of this.

Pattern: Of my own creation

Yarn: Sock Hop Yarn from Crown Mountain Farms (hand dyed and spun for Wildfiber in Santa Monica, which is where I found it). Superwash merino sock yarn. Colour unknown, but gorgeous!

My next little issue is whether there is enough yarn in this very small ball to make the second fingerless glove. I have a strong feeling that this ball is smaller than the one left after the first sock. But maybe I’m just worriting.

I’m also copying everyone else and keeping a rough tally of the yarn ins and outs – more to make me feel guilty if I buy lots than for any other reason.  This year I’ve added 866m and used 1150m (give or take, as some are measured in yards and some in meters) – net used 284m (or a bit more than one sock!).

Well now I’ve achieved something today and I think I can go back to bed with a good conscience!

    Oh Helen,
I hope you get to feeling better. I just went through the head cold routine about two weeks ago, then very generously gave it to my husband. He is running about a week behind me recovery-wise. Take it easy, drink lots of tea (fortified if necessary) and you’ll be back on your blue sock clad feet in no time. I love the way your socks turned out.

    Worriting! Love that, Helen ;))
Hope those delicious socks are making you feel more cheerful – I bought another 4 sock’s worth today, sigh… (except none of it is going to be socks, teehee!!)

Cant you just weigh the first glove and then the ball to see if you have enough left?
