Snowstorm meditation

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

After one glorious day the weather has closed in – and six of us (including three very rumbunctious children and a cat who is being forced to wear an Easter pink ribbon) are stuck in a small flat with a snowstorm all around. No going out today I fear, and precious little space or quiet for creativity…Even my laptop keeps giving up the ghost and overheating and dying on me.

However, I have had some time to think over the past few days and have finally come to the conclusion that I’m going to follow the example of all the tidy, good housewifely bloggers out there and as soon as I get home again I’m going to embark on the spring clean of the decade. I now see that  the clutter and dust bunnies are not conducive to a calm, quiet and creative mind. And I need my mind to be like that. At least for a little while.

So on Tuesday I’m going to get stuck into some drastic clearing out and cleaning. I’m not sure yet whether I’m starting with the laundry room or our bedroom or the kitchen and living room. What I’m certainly not starting with is the kid’s rooms.  I’m drawn towards giving up entirely with their rooms (and just nominating them as  no longer my responsibility), but at the same time they are just THE WORST and it would be soo cathartic to actually tackle them properly. Right now though I’m going to set that conundrum to one side and stick to what I know is mine.

Part of me is almost looking forward to it…

So on that note I shall go back to the  sleepy hollow socks, where I have spent this weekend doing a scary amount of unravelling and reknitting. I hasten to add, it is not the pattern that is at fault…

Wherever you are this Easter I wish you joy, peace and creativity,

Helen

I also have today off of work so I wish you a Happy Easter Monday as well! Back to work and routine again in the morning. I didn’t accomplish the amount of cleaning that I had hoped to but I did accomplish time creating and time to recharge my batteries which is what I really wanted.
Your pictures are so beautiful, our snow is almost all gone and as it’s raining this morning that might be the end of it….unless we get one more blast which is possible.
Enjoy your time with your family! and thank you for your comments on my blog 🙂

Thanks Wendy! Somehow there are never enough hours in the day are there? I’m glad you managed to have some creative time – there’s nothing like it to recharge your batteries! Have a good week! 🙂
