Meadowsweet – two for the price of one

Monday, April 11th, 2011

I finally found myself a little sewing time and got down to business with Meadowsweet and some odds and ends of solids from my stash.

Something keeps drawing me towards boxes within boxes – this is the third project that’s taken me down this path, although I think the blocks are bigger this time.

The left overs from the fat quarters were too small for an additional blocks but I had enough to make some hourglass blocks. I don’t know yet if these are for a border or for a quilt on their own…

in rows…

as pin-wheels…

For once it’s proving easy to cut into the fabrics. This may be because it isn’t my favourite fabric collection ever, so there are no ‘if I screw this up I’ll never ever get more of this dreamy fabric‘ thoughts. I’m just enjoying wandering my way through this eclectic fabric collection. There are fabrics here which I would never have dreamed of putting together – it’s an extraordinary mish-mash of styles and colours, but it’s light and summery and I’m enjoying it probably more than I thought I would.

Tomorrow rain is forecast, so I’m heading back to the garden to get as much done as possible before it comes. But rainy day spells sewing day in my book…it should really spell catch up with the housework… but sometime life is just way too short to worry about such things.

Here’s hoping you’re enjoying life and not worrying about the cleaning either!

Love it! It’s very sweet. And I’m completely with you on the cleaning vs quilting issue.

Your blocks really do look summery and crisp. Yup, my home is showing that quilting has been the priority around here for the past few weeks – a quick dab and a promise has been the extent of my cleaning.

That was quick work – you`ve done a great job. Very summery! I haven`t done anything creative for days and the way things are looking, it could be a few days yet. Soon though…hopefully.

I hope it’s good and rainy in Switzerland today so you can sew. You’ve got a lot done already.
Re the housework, I do mine only when I can’t avoid it any longer. I decided long ago I wasn’t put on this planet to dust ornaments and plump up cushions! So long as we stay hygienic and we all have clean clothes and food, then the rest can go hang!
