Rainy day sane day

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Today it’s finally raining. We’ve had days and days of perfect weather and finally the rain has come.

For once I breathed a sigh of relief.

I’ve been chasing my tail and having fun doing it for weeks. It’s been great. I’ve seen lots of friends and done lots of things. My garden is looking better than it has for years. But it’s been a little intense recently, even for me!

I’m feeling a little tired, a little ragged round the edges. It’s not that I need to stop completely, but I need some time on my own, some time to potter.

I really need a day like today. A day to take stock and catch up. A day to work without feeling drawn to be outside. A day to do laundry, clean, catch up on emails, get rid of the ironing mountain and all those little jobs that haven’t been getting done.  A day to fit in a little sewing or plan my next knitting project, or even to sit a little, drink tea and read. A no stress, quiet day.

A very, very ordinary day. No place much to go, no-one to see and a lot of time to potter and do the stuff that needs doing. A sanity day. I actually feel like I’ve come down to earth and it feels good.

But it’s OK if the sunshine comes back tomorrow!

I need that kind of day too. When the sun shines, I feel as if I have to get out and garden, and even though i love it I need a break too!

Very envious of your rainy day – I love hearing rain against a window holding a mug of coffee perhaps and just looking out. Hoping you managed to get everything done.

Such a beautifully written post! I could use a rainy day myself!
