A most delightful evening
I don’t know if it’s our crazy weather – which is swinging backwards and forwards from hot to cold – but I’m tired out at the moment. Come the evening I’m completely pooped and not fit for much at all. The Swiss call it Frühlingsmüdigkeit – spring tiredness. Whatever, I need to get it sorted out and get my energy levels back again. My run this morning was a real slog – boy did I have lead in my legs, but thankfully one or two of the others did too!
Yesterday evening I went for the ‘being nice to me routine‘ – and had a delightful evening….
A glass of my favourite Californian White Zinfandel got me off to the right start…
Followed by butter chicken curry with basmati rice and naan bread (the curry sauce came out of a jar from Jaipur – one of the very, very few things I buy ready made – and utterly delicious with it). Yum!
Then utterly scrummy rhubarb fool à la Nigella (made with my own fair hands). This was rejected by everyone except my eldest daughter on the grounds that a) it’s a strange English concoction and b) it doesn’t contain chocolate….honestly, how can these children be my children?…and why did my husband marry me if he didn’t want English puddings? Secretly I don’t care….all the more for me and daughter number 1, who is a sensible girl!
After dinner a little gentle Lenora knitting. This is turning into one of those love you socks. The lacy leg is a delight and I’ve learned a couple of new stitches. The subtle variations in the yarn shading are a delight – and so very Grace Kelly!
A can’t put it down book – Sister by Rosamund Lupton. Excellent so far. I REALLY can’t put it down…
And a lovely lavender bath to finish off the evening…
Heavenly….

Looks like you had a great evening.
We are having the same weather in California. This weekend 90’F…next week 60’sF and rain is expected.

What a perfect day! That rhubarb fool looks lovely – I bought some rhubarb yesterday and was going to make a crumble (to try Raymond Blanc’s crumble technique which he said makes it super-crumbly) but now seeing your fruit fool it does look like a yummy alternative.
‘Sister’ is on my list of books to read too – my Mum read it with her book club and she said it was really good so now I have inherited it. If I could just have a curry with it too that would be perfect!

Sometimes we need the simple pleasures to bring us back to sanity. After a few weeks of intense quilting I am now trying to put order back into my sewing studio and tomorrow will see a major bout of spring cleaning.
On your recommendation I have put the book on my “to read” list.
