The hottest day of the year at Insel Mainau

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Today was the hottest day of the year and Mel and I trekked off to Insel Mainau – the flower island.

A tiny island linked to the northern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee) in Southern Germany with a microclimate that seems almost tropical. A haven of peace and tranquility. Full of flowers and majestic trees.

Calm and surprisingly pleasant in the heat of the day.

And very, very beautiful.

Well worth a visit.

We shall come again.

Oh and greetings to Elaine in Kidderminster from Mel and I!!

Helen

We had a lovely trip across the Bodensee many (pre-kiddie) moons ago and enjoyed it a lot – very beautiful. Managed to miss that little island and its tropical climate however! Definitely makes me want a lakeside holiday one of these days – love Lake Annecy, Geneva, Bodensee, Titisee, would love to visit some of the N Italian lakes as have never been there. Lovely photos!

I’m adding Insel Mainau to my wish list of places to go. I love the idea of a “tropical paradise” in Germany! Thanks for sharing this with us.
