Why does life always get in the way?
I had such good intentions….but try as I might, I haven’t got as much done as I’d hoped to over the last day or so. You see, I had visions of a troublefree day just trundling along sewing blocks on the sewing machine. I hadn’t quite taken into account having to do a holiday worth of laundry, going to the supermarket, collecting the cat from the cattery, recycling and just well, the little things involved in living… I also received two papers to edit and correct, which I’m going to have to get done over the next few days and which I had sort of hoped would be delayed, but weren’t. So all in all, I’m not as far as I had hoped to be, but at least some progress is being made in all sorts of directions.
I finished my Meadowsweet skirt. It looks a bit like a gaudy sack in this photo, but I promise it does look much better on. I just can’t show it to you with me wearing it because there’s nobody here to take the photo. Bumble Bee is a clever cat, but she hasn’t mastered photography yet. I like the skirt, but other than a white T-shirt I have no idea what I can possibly wear it with!
I finished knitting the second front of my loud purple Otello cardie and almost finished the first sleeve. Here I was multitasking, because I simultaneously watched Memoirs of a Geisha, which has been sitting waiting to be watched for about 5 years….and which I would highly recommend. Can’t think why I never managed to watch it before.
I’ve been plodding on with my Bliss blocks – only six more to go and then I can start putting on the sashing to put them all together. I seriously love this fabric.
I also finished reading The Redbreast by the Norwegian writer Jo Nesbo – which improved as it went along. I have a feeling that Steig Larsson my have been the best thing that ever happened to Scandinavian writers – as they are suddenly being translated into English in great numbers.
….and I also tadaaaaa spent an hour trying to get the garden back into some semblance of order.
Written down it looks like I did more than I feel like I did.
It feels strangely free this week…and I have a clear conscience about enjoying myself as I’ve had a report back from the motorbike gang and the kids and everybody seems to be having a great time….oh and the sun is shining too.
Life is good!

You have really gotten a lot finished and I love your Bliss blocks.
I also loved the Geisha movie. Now I better go and get busy, too.

Self timer Helen! Perch the camera on a table near its edge, look through it and check you`ll show up et voila – a picture of you in your super cute skirt! Looks like you have achieved a huge amount already…but yes, that thing called life can get in the way.

I think you’re going to need another holiday if you carry on at that pace! I wonder if I can lose my kids and husband for a week and maybe actually get something done …!
