Progress!

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

So, barring borders, where the jury is still out, my Bliss quilt top is finished. Do I love it? You bet!

For those who missed the ongoing story, the fabric is Bliss by Bonnie and Camille for Moda and the pattern is a variation on the Thimbleberries Picnic Rollup. The inclusion of 2 1/2 inch squares in the corners between the blocks was my own little addition and I like the way they worked out.

I’m leaning towards a red border. What do you think?

Otherwise, the second Otello sleeve is done and I’m about to start on the collar, the house is minimally tidier and as I write Mr Motorbike is due home several days early, the weather being too inclement for happy motorbiking….so my me week is coming to an end a little early. Which is fine.

The film of the evening yesterday was Winter’s Hole, which received 4 Oscar nominations last year I think. It was…OK…rather dark and depressing if I’m honest, although the acting was good. Poverty and brutality in the Ozarks in winter is, however, clearly very bleak. Not an uplifting film. I really need to find something happy next!

Now back to the vacuum cleaner…!

You sure did get your Bliss quilt together fast! I love it and think red is the way to go for the border. I enjoyed Winter’s Bone–mostly for the acting I think. The little girl who played the lead was really something. A dark tale for sure though.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love it. I think the red would be perfect as a border too.

Stopped by to see what you’re up to and the quilt almost knocked my socks off. (Truthfully, I’m not wearing socks; but you get my drift.) It’s beautiful, Helen. Red or pink border. Or red inner border and pink outer border. Or whatever takes our fancy. I love it.

Definitely a red border. The quilt is beautiful, Helen. You’re such a talented seamstress. (I’d actually written ‘sewer’ as in person who sews, which is a bit less dated than seamstress, but I was worried it might be read the wrong way!) And guess what, I am going to knit some socks at long last!
