Phew…back on track…

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Phew…I think I’m under control again. I got the papers I was working on sent off to Sweden this morning and have worked like a trojan to lick the house into some semblance of shape . I made a management decision to just close the children’s bedroom doors and pretend that they aren’t my responsibility – but at least the kitchen and bathrooms are clean and the floors are vacuumed and washed. As long as nobody looks too closely, if I say so myself, it looks pretty good.

When the house is a big mess it really gets me down (particularly if it’s raining, which it has for the past few weeks). I think because I work from home and can’t get away from everything when it’s all in a state I have trouble dealing with chaos. I can’t do anything but look around me and see work that I haven’t done and should do. It just sends me off on a big guilt trip – stupid I know, but there you go, sometimes we really are our own worst enemies.

Anyway, now I can breathe a huge sigh of relief and relax a little and hopefully make a whole lot more progress with my Whirligig quilt top. As you can see above, I tidied up the mountain of fabric that was all over the floor and have everything organized on top of my scraps basket. I have about half of the big blocks made now – so I’m getting there!! (And more importantly, I still like it!). I can’t get over how clever Carrie Nelson‘s no-waste Flying Geese method is – it tickles me pink every time!

I still can’t see any great holes in the stash where the fabric came from  – but who knows, maybe by the time I’m through I will!

Wishing all of you out there in cyberspace a happy weekend and here’s hoping that the sun is shining wherever you are!

Helen
