How well do you see colour?

Friday, July 6th, 2012

My friend Carla in Canada sent me a really interesting link this week – it’s a test on how well you see colour and can differentiate different hues.

I just assumed I was perfect….well you do, don’t you?….

…I wasn’t, but was still a fair bit better than average for my age, which is reassuring!

Why don’t you give it a try, it only takes a couple of minutes. You can click here if you’d like to!

Helen

PS Do let me know if you get a perfect score – I’ll be deeply impressed!

  1. Stephanie Says:

I got 33, not entirely sure if that’s good or bad!

  2. Vreni Says:

Didn’t do too bad; scored an 8. Rather surprised as my eyes are definitely not what they used to be!

  3. MelD Says:

Gosh, sends your eyes a bit funny, doesn’t it?!! I got 20, which I’m quite chuffed with!
    Wow Vreni, 8 is excellent!!

You’re quite right, one assumes that colour vision would automatically be perfect… I wonder how the men do, who tend to be colour ignorant? Perhaps not so badly since colour names are not in question (ever discussed with a man what turquoise is?!!!).

  4. Susan Says:

Turns out I am not that great. I got 34.

  5. Gertie Pye Says:

I scored 16, which I am happy with given that my eyes were half on the colours and half on the baby!

  6. Katy Says:

I got 20, which given I’m on the crappy monitor at work rather than my nice colour balanced one at home, I’m happy with! My eyes are all funny now though o.O

  7. Julie Says:

    I was a 19. An 8 is impressive, Vreni!!

  8. Fleur Cotton Says:

Feel a bit big headed now – when I see all you comments got a perfect score = 0 !

You have perfect color vision! – copied and pasted off my results! Feel a bit light headed now!

I do love colour and know immediately if an embroidery thread doesn’t match!!

Thanks for the great link Helen, have a happy and colourful week.
    Fleur xx

  9. CarlaHR Says:

Wow, I am impressed with all those results – you all certainly did better than I despite the fact that I was better than average for my age group. Think I’ll try again.

  10. Flying Blind Says:

I got 4, but that was on my iPad which makes it easier to see thana static screen I suspect – good fun, thank you x

  11. Pure Klass Says:

I didn’t do very well – my score was 22. But it reminded me of this article: http://discovermagazine.com/2012/jul-aug/06-humans-with-super-human-vision/article_view?b_start:int=0&-C=

It must be fascinating to see the way those women see!

  12. Sharon Says:

You just made my day by providing this quiz! I had a perfect score!! Thanks!

  13. Susan Ramey Cleveland Says:

I did pretty good, 31. But it was hard. The colors kept changing.

  14. Nancy Says:

What an interesting link. My score was 29.

  15. Lush Says:

OK, so much for me thinking I was not competitive. Deeply impressed by the 8.
I originally scored 47 but after seeing these scores and after a 2 hour narcolepsy nap I did it again & scored 16. LOL
    Great test Helen!!

  16. ailsa Says:

I couldn’t make head or tale of it. I obviously haven’t got a brain, never mind the ability to judge colour-lol

  17. Toni R. Says:

I got a 12, I’m feeling pretty good about that score.

  18. Leanne Says:

I got 12. I am going to try it later with my ipad and see how much of it was a test of my monitor quality too.

  19. Mariel Says:

Well, no perfect score for me either! I got a 4. It is hard to do with the glare on my laptop but I’m pretty happy with the score.

  20. Danny Says:

    I got a 4. I’m good with color. 🙂

  21. MelD Says:

PS my husband got 16 so he’s good, too!!

  22. Noodle Says:

Fascinating! I wasn’t expecting great results but ended up with a ‘Perfect 0’ so I’m now in such deep shock that I need to dive into a bowl of Strawberries & Cream to celebrate 🙂

  23. Mic Says:

The reds and greens seemed tougher, but I pulled-out a perfect score in the end. We just spent a couple of months choosing house paint colors — a bit like a Kaplan course for paint hue-ing. Very interesting. Thanks for the link.
