Whirligig is done!
I did it! It’s finally finished! A zillion hourglass blocks later and the borders are done and the whole top is ironed and ready to be mailed to be England to be quilted. I just need to finalize the details and then off it will go – at the moment I’m thinking to be quilted with an overall feather pattern. What do you think?
I’m very, very pleased with the result. Carrie Nelson did a great job with the pattern. She is such a fantastic pattern designer and it’s a really great scrap quilt. So if you haven’t already bought it, make sure you put Miss Rosie’s Spice of Life Quilts by Carrie on your shopping list!
I know I have used up masses and masses of smallish stash pieces, many of which have been waiting 20 years for this moment! I’m still wallowing in the wonderfully virtuous feeling of having worked almost entirely from the stash and I even think the stash looks very slightly less now. It must, it really must, even if it’s a little difficult to tell the difference!
Now I’m off to try to find some more circular knitting needles so that I can get the cardigan I’m working on finished. That could prove tricky – I have a feeling the knitting shops locally are closed on Mondays, but I’ll take my chances and see what I can find. Watch this space!

Beautiful quilt; looks like heaps of work. But the end result is stunning. Is it going to be machine quilted in England? Liebe Gruesse Vreni (in Singapore)

I admire your tenacity. If I were attempting that pattern, I think it would be put aside (in the fast lane to the UFO pile) in short order. And it only took you about a week to piece it, didn’t it?

I love Carries Patterns and your quilt is wonderful!! It does look like a ton of work but well worth the effort for sure.

That border is simply perfect! The block pattern stands out so well against the lighter backgrounds. Love it.

This is sooooo beautiful. In years to come it will be so valued because of the memories you have created in it.
