Quilting pebbles in my sleep
So March has been and gone – the coldest in a hundred years apparently….Today it’s April, we woke up to snow, but by this afternoon the sun (wow! what’s that??) had come out and melted it all away and within a couple of hours these were to be seen….
I can’t tell you how hardy these flowers must be. They were clearly waiting for the snow to melt and burst into bloom as soon as it had. I hope to goodness we’ve finally seen the last of the snow. I can’t remember ever having been quite so desperate for spring to arrive!
Unfortunately I can also report that the weeds have been making hay under the snow……and there’s already a lot of work that needs doing in the garden ;-( Don’t ask where I’m going to find time to do the garden on top of everything else. Can’t say I’m relishing having more to do.
This morning I finally managed to finish quilting the Sea Glass quilt. I was dreaming about quilting the pebbles in my sleep last night. I love the effect, but pebbles are not something a sane person should really undertake on a quilt of any size. This one is a little under 5’x6′ and it has taken me days and days to do pebbles in all the kona snow boxes. I’m sticking to table runners in future!
Now just a little gentle binding and then I’ll sew on all the siggy blocks and the first Sew Euro-bee-an quilt (as far as I know) will be done and dusted. It’s been a real departure for me – way outside my comfort zone really, but I’m so pleased with the result. It turned out just like I hoped it would.
Anyway, don’t die of shock, but here are some photos taken outside with real sunshine…..it’s been a LONG TIME!
The binding is calling, so I’m off to get it done 😉

How exciting to see the first Sew Euro Bee An quilt almost done – it looks great Helen and I don’t envy you the FMQ…of course if you doing them in a hurry, I guess you could call them ‘pebble dash’ *groan*

I would definitely say that your efforts paid off – another wonderful finish. So glad yhe weather has improved – we are having rain today which should take care of most of the remaining snow.
Thanks for the spring flowers.

This is one of the most unique and beautiful quilts I’ve ever seen, Helen. Magnificent job! We’re getting some sun here too and the very deep snow is beginning to melt. xxoo

Magnificent texture! And sunshine! We had our hottest March for years down here. And our hottest driest summer. Hope it turns around to a wettest winter!

I love the pebble quilting. Well done for finishing the first Sew-Euro-Been-An quilt. I can’t wait for my turn 🙂
It must be so nice to see the sun after such a long hard winter. We had a little sun yesterday late afternoon but it’s shining now.

It looks great Helen. Just think how long it would have taken you to quilt it by hand ;)! So really, a few days isn’t too bad, especially since you are pleased with it.

What gorgeous flowers! I absolutely LOVE the quilting on the Sea Glass quilt! Yes, pebbles are a pain, but it gives such a wonderful texture to the blocks.
And now my friend, I have several questions for you about caring for your feet when exercising. I’m having great issues, and I figure since you are a runner you can help me. Please “e” me privately when you get a chance, if you would not mind answering a few questions… no hurry on this, just when and IF it is pleasing to you.
Thanks!
