The last few days of summer….

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Summer in Switzerland is drawing to a close. The first trees are starting to change, mornings are chilly and the children are leaving home in the dark to take trains for early school starts. The days are still bright and sunny, but the heat has gone and I know their days are numbered.

Winter is so long and grey here that I’m snatching every chance to enjoy these last glorious days. Soaking up the rays to see me through the snow and freezing temperatures that will hit in a few weeks. Glorious. This is when I feel so lucky to be self-employed and able to take a little time out of my day for myself, for my mental well-being. Reading the newspaper outside in the sunshine with a really good cup of coffee in a proper china cup.

It really doesn’t take much to make me happy!

Summer is waning here too. But, of course, we don’t have as severe a winter coming on as you do–although it was pretty long and cold last year, with five snows (unheard of in this part of the state). Happy Day, Helen.

Hi! I’m back online again and wanted to say well done on your race. I have just started running and I think I’m beginning to understand the ‘running bug’, it’s addictive. Enjoy your tea and paper… well deserved indeed. Aoife x
