Zippy Strippy Bag
I’m way behind on all sorts of things – house cleaning, laundry, writing Christmas cards, answering emails. You name it and it’s waiting to be done. Today I just had a what the heck moment and decided that what I REALLY wanted to do was have a little go at making one of the Zippy Strippy bags by Atkinson Designs.
I had ordered a jelly roll of Bliss by Moda, which I just love – and here is my first bag! I know it won’t be my last – it was such fun to make, looks super-professional IMHO and really was done in a jiffy.
This is the medium sized bag – it measures 9.5 in x 5.5 in x 4 in or 24.5cm x 14cm x 10cm if you’re metric. There are larger and smaller versions too. This is a perfect project for jelly roll strips – which by coincidence (!) are just the right width and even better, are a fabulous way to use up all those cut-off pieces of batting left over from quilts. The pattern uses fusible fleece – which I somehow think is probably unobtainable here. I used regular batting and it worked just fine!
I started out thinking that these would make great presents – and they certainly would, don’t get me wrong – but I think I’m going to make myself a set first. That way I can be well-practiced when I come to making presents. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!)

I knew you would love making these little bags! Won’t they make great gifts? It is addicting: once you make one, you start planning the color combinations for the next one.
I like how you did not limit yourself to just three fabrics.

Now aren’t you glad that you did what was calling to you and the result is this lovely little bag. Enjoy the next one(s).

Your bag turned out so cute! Good way to use up some of our fabric stash. I’ve been making them and sending them to ladies I work with. They’re a real hit!

I agree, housework can wait (it’s not going anywhere, is it?) And your zippy bag is very professional looking indeed! I also love Bliss; will get a jelly roll for Christmas ;). How were your socks received last week? I hope they got the approval they deserve. Best wishes Vreni x
